What's In A Name?

Fighting Bob LaFollette

Progressive politics has been concerned with rolling back prejudices, improving democratic accountabilities, and promoting the common good for over a century.

We have seen a steady regression of civil liberties, division of wealth, ecologic protection, fiscal responsibility, separation of state and religion, social safety nets and workers' rights. We have witnessed a regession of American stature throughout the world as we alienate others through unilateral actions. We are besieged with a global "free trade" market which treat workers and the environment as commodities to be exploited.

It's time we the people, take the country back!

The Town of Primrose Wisconsin was home to the man most associated with the progressive ideals, "Fighting" Bob LaFollette. Now, in the very area that Fighting Bob called home is born S.W.W.A.P, an organization dedicated to providing programs based on progressive ideals and encouraging democracy by active participation at the ballot box and accountability by elected officials.

"Now we have the chance, 100 years after the great Fighting Bob La Follette, to send a message to Washington. . . . Out of the Upper Midwest will come political reform, will come political change, will come the principle of one person/one vote once again."
-Russ Feingold, the eve of his re-election.
