May Day, May Day !

May 1st SWWAP Program is "Why We Fight"

On May 1, the SWWAP organization will present the timely documentary "Why We Fight". Winner of the Sundance 2005 Film Film Festival Grand Jury Award, this documentary dissects America's military machine with a keen eye to answering the question: Why does America engage in war? Through personal stories of soldiers, government officials, scholars, journalists and innocent victims, the film examines the political and economic interests and ideological factors, past and present, behind American militarism.

The film also explores a half-century of military conflicts, from World War 11 to Iraq. It reveals Dwight Eisenhower's warnings on the "the business of war" and the dangers of the "military industrial complex”. “Why We Fight” also deals with how we pay for military conflicts, and the monetary consequences to society.

The program will be presented on May 1, at 7pm, in the Mount Horeb Community Center, located at 105 N. Grove Street. As always this SWWAP event is free and open to the public.
